I was not lonely though. Not by any means. I had two wonderful humans and several vinyl friends to keep me company. Not to mention a rather stand-off-ish cat that I eventually developed a rather good, if quiet relationship with. He has been gone a year now. I miss him.
It was a little odd and just a tiny bit sad to be the only BJD in our house, but my place as solitary resin girl disappeared not too long after I arrived when another big box appeared on our doorstep. A box that contained my now best friend... Mina.
We have been through a lot together, Mina and I. Travelled across the country in pillow cases, explored our wonderful new home, laughed our way through the great doll beauty pageant extravaganza - how much fun was that! It was Mina who kept me sane when I broke my foot in the gardens at Cowra.

Claudia here.

It has been a while. I know. You would not think the time of a resin doll like myself could be so pressed.
Yet, what many people fail to realise is that when our human partners are having trying times it is up to we dolls to put aside our own concerns and projects to do all we can to help. Sometimes this means taking on small forgotten jobs that our humans may not even be aware would otherwise be left undone. Sometimes it means simply being there for them; lending our companionship and our silent friendship. Thus you may have seen myself appearing in Tonto's Live Journal, or Mina making appearances on suzieboots' blog, while this poor little record has remained untouched for a very long time. Such is the life of a doll.
You know though, it is a job I love and I think I can safely say that it is the same for every doll in this house. When one of us spends some time with Tonto or Suzieboots - out in the garden taking photos, trying on a series of outfits, or even just sitting next to them while they work - one smile from our humans is enough to make all our efforts worth while.
This is not as unbalanced as it may sound. After all, think of all the effort and expense our humans expend just to keep us happy - clothes, shoes, wigs, a roof over our head-caps. I think the giving of time and companionship is the least we dolls can do.
Having said this though, I am glad to be able to say now - yes, it is true, I have been gone for a while... but I am back baby! And I plan to stay!

BTW - if you were wondering what happened to Tuppence after she posted those incriminating pictures of Imogen and myself here... well let's just say revenge is a dish served icy icy cold! So stay tuned. C

Hi there! My name is Tuppence. I'm a friend of Claudia.
I just happened to be surfing around checking out
So what to put for my very first post? Hmmm? Perhaps a little about me.

I am a Lati Blue 'Yern'. I came to live with Claudia and co a few months ago at the same time as my good friend Percy Jones. (I see MIss C did make a post mentioning us - ONE post. Humph!) Percy is also a Lati Blue but she is a 'Cara'...

In fact, my part as Miss Serbia (and my friend Mina's as Miss Kiribati too I think) is all over. We put in our Evening dress pics for the last round of the competition a while ago and the voting for that last event is now complete. The results are in for Evening Wear AND the top ten competitors for Rainyverse 2008 have been chosen. All that is left now, I think, is the final judging. Sadly neither Mina nor I made it into the top ten - but then we were up against some absolutely beautiful dolls!
Boy what a hard road it has been! The most exciting thing for me in this whole competition was my friend Mina making the top ten of the 'Tell Us About Yourself' section of the comp! That and the absolutely beautiful dress that Gary made for me for Evening Wear! I was quite taken aback by how well it turned out and Mina has already put in an order for one just like it (probably in Purple knowing her!) It may be a while before Gary gets around to it though - there was a lot of swearing and yelling while he struggled with the sewing machine, poor boy.
Mina and me in our lovely gowns...

So what will we be doing now that the competition is over? Well, I am planning on taking a well earned rest! Why, you ask? Well take a look at what happened to me on the last day of our work for the Evening Wear competition...

And now, at last, I can deal with the biggest piece of catch up news yet. New additions to our family.
Wonderful new additions!
As you can see two small beautiful Lati Blue dolls have come to live in our house. On the left in this picture, next to me, is Gary's new Yern, 'Tuppence' and on the right, next to Mina, is Eleanor's new Cara, 'Percy Jones'.

Why? Well, because that is what it is all about.

Along with my new hairstyle my human had another idea about how to help me bring out a different side of myself this time around at Rainyverse. It was a plan to help reveal my sexier side. Now I am usually quite a retiring resin and quite private about many things, but I have to say dressing sexy is something I really do enjoy - upon occasion. Thus my swimsuit for the competition was considerably skimpier than last years and my National Costume pics, which are yet to be revealed, also show quite a bit more cleavage than I am normally comfortable with!
Some time ago, when we were discussing the Rainyverse plan, he also suggested something else to - in his words - make my assets stand out more. 'Blushing'.
Although I was a bit apprehensive at first it was something that I had wanted to try for quite some time. I made it clear that what was to be done was to be very subtle and light handed - not to mention easily removable! He promised it would be and was true to his word. He added a very delicate pink shading in pastels to my chest and coloured my nipples. Actually, he was so delicate that I am not even sure that the difference will show in any of my Rainyverse pics! If you look closely in this shot though you can can get some idea...

Still more catch ups to come.
Love and blushed hugs,
Claudia

Oh time is cruel! A girl just blinks her little glass eyes and so much time has suddenly passed! Of course things have been pretty busy around here so is it really a surprise? Of course it does mean there is quite a bit to catch up on!
First let me wind the clock back to some time last year...
When Mina and I chose to enter the 2008 Rainyverse competition I decided that I would need a new look. Something to show my growth since the last competition. I chose a new wig. I was really thrilled with it as it was a very different style and I think shows my face to much better advantage than my old one. However, I wanted it to be a surprise for the competition so I could never show it! Talk about frustrating! However, Rainyverse 2008 has launched at last and as my Swimsuit pics are up for voting the wig has been revealed. Wanna look?
Not too bad huh? I hope it doesn't sound too vain or conceited but I love that the style shows the beautiful work the face-up artists at Elfdoll did with my eyebrows.
So there you are - my 'new' months old wig.
Well, must get on - there is a lot more 'catch up' still to come.
Love,
Claudia

Yup. It is easy enough for my human to buy and store the horses that his Lord of the Rings figures can ride. His little Doctor can have his own Tardis, no problems, and his Timpo cowboys can even have a stagecoach! With 1/6 dolls it gets a little harder as any vehicle needs to be that much larger, yet still there are motorbikes and scooters and even a remote controlled Mini Cooper in their scale.
Now think for a moment about me and my 1/3 scale friends. How big would a Porche Boxstar that we could drive have to be? Or even a Volks Wagon Beetle? Our poor humans couldn't even get them through the front door! And so I had resigned myself to the fact that I would always have to get around on my poor little resin feet.
Or so I thought.
Imagine my surprise when I opened the largest Christmas present I had ever seen and found this...

Who is a happy 'big' resin girl now?
ME!
Hugs,
Claudia.

First, they are making new bodies for all the girls to come - which is fine and quite exciting - but they will be stopping making the original Elfdoll girl bodies. That means Imogen's 2 part, small bust body and my own 3 part, so called 'large bust' body will no longer be available.
And there is more. Production will also cease on two dolls completely... these two dolls...

Yes. It is true. No more Ryungs. No more Soahs.
Oh they say our sculpts will turn up now and then in 'special' releases but we two, as the girls that started it all for Rainy-dolls, will no longer be the faces of Elfdoll.
We, it appears, have been superceded. Take a good last look - and if you like us you better get to Elfdoll fast! There are only a few more days to order one of us before the close of December orders.
Thank goodness our sister Sooah is still there to keep carrying our flame.
Ah, life. Life is change and change is good. But that doesn't mean it can't be very sad sometimes.
Love,
Claudia 'Soah'.
